South Africa historical collection, 1802-1961 (inclusive).

The collection consists of correspondence; journals and diaries; government documents; reports and printed material of various organizations, political parties, and individuals; ephemera; and photographs which document various aspects of the history of South Africa and its political, economic, social, and cultural conditions from the colonial period of the 1800s to 1961, the year which marks the legalization of apartheid. The bulk of the collection focuses on the South African War, more commonly known as the Boer War (1899-1902).
